Hey friends!
I’m working towards shorter posts, as I’ve discovered with the little one (12 weeks today!) it’s harder for me to get more than a few minutes to sit and write.
So, I’m working to up my social media game as that can be quicker than writing out a longer blog post and I’ve created:
A Sober in Vegas Twitter Feed
A Sober in Vegas Youtube Channel
Hopefully we can connect there as well if you’re so inclined. 🙂
Today I wanted to write a short post about the Liberty Bell Arch Trail and try a new post format…hooray for trying new things!
Sober in Vegas Activity Category: Hiking Trail
Time Needed: 6 hours total (including drive from The Strip) and be advised this trail should probably not be used between May-Early October
Proximity to Strip: 60-75 minute drive
Alcohol-Free or Sober-Friendly: Alcohol-Free
Getting outside is a huge part of my sobriety, and it’s been especially difficult to do so these past months as I’ve been recovering from giving birth and learning how to take care of a little one.
Recently however, we hiked the Liberty Bell Arch Trail and it was one of the most rewarding trails I’ve done in some time.
The trail itself can be a bit difficult to follow, I highly recommend taking a look at either this PDF from Hiking Las Vegas or the Bird and Hike page dedicated to this trail.
The entire hike is unshaded so please bring more water than you feel like you would need, as well as a hat and sunscreen–and I’d recommend bringing some snacks as well as you’ll work up an appetite.
Also be aware that this is the same trailhead as the Arizona Hot Springs, which means the parking lot fills up fast. Make sure to get there early to get a spot!
Two highlights I want to point out (other than the obvious natural arch that the hike is named after…)
- You’ll get to see some old mining equipment along the hike, which is pictured above
- At the end of the hike you are rewarded with an incredible view of the Colorado River which is the perfect place to rest and enjoy those snacks you brought along!
I hope that you’re able to check out this hike next time you are in Vegas, or before it gets too hot if you’re a local here!
Happy Birthday lil’ one!
